Simon Shunk served as a 2nd Class Private in the 8th Co., First Battalion of Cumberland Co. PA militia. Commanded by Col. James Johnson Aug. 1st, 1782. Reference PA Archives 5th Series, Vol. 6, page 125.
She had 7 siblings: Adam, Peter (both were in the Rev. War), John Jr. (my ancestor, b. about 1764--he married Christina Shryock), (Susannah), Anna Mariah (sp. name Adam Cook), Magdaline (sp. name Coon), Catherine (sp. name Baltzer Coon) and Christina (sp. name Henry Stemple). All children were born in Guilford Twp., Franklin Co. PA. Adam and Peter's enlistment papers are also from Guilford Twp. and Peter is buried there at Grindstone Hill Cemetery, having died in 1832. We know that Susannah's father was John (Johann) from Germany and that he died about 1802 in Guilford Twp., Franklin Co. PA. Her mother's name was Christina.
